Description
Danish engineering company Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) was in March 2016 awarded a contract to build the second redevelopment, a 67 MW turnkey heavy fuel oil power plant, in Port Louis, Mauritius. Aqvila subsequently won the design & supply sub-contract for the civil and building works.
The power plant redevelopment is built on a brown-field site which has been used for power generation since 1954 and consists of a new Powerhouse building and a GIS building as well as a tank farm and storage tanks for heavy fuel oil.
Aqvila’s works included the detailed design of all reinforced concrete sub and superstructures, including 3D modelling of the structures and creation of bar-bending schedules as well as design, manufacture and supply of steel superstructure and cladding envelope for the various buildings. Furthermore, Aqvila supplied designs for internal roads and underground utilities.
