Description
Danish engineering company Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) was in autumn 2015 awarded the turnkey contract to build a 28 MW biomass combined heat and power plant in Cramlington, England. Subsequently, Aqvila was, by BWSC, awarded the design and supply sub-contract for the platforms and support structures for M&E equipment and installations, including normal pipes as well as high pressure steam pipes located inside the Turbine building.
The plant is powered by approx. 245,000 tonnes of virgin and waste wood as well as forest residues each year.
Aqvila’s design services were performed parallel to the BWSC M&E design of the equipment and installations. The steel structures were analysed by using the 3D FEM software “Autodesk Robot”. The steel structures, connections, ladders, stairs, guardrails and gratings were modelled in the 3D BIM software “Tekla”. Based on this 3D “Tekla” model the workshop documents and files were prepared.
