A NEW CHAPTER FOR AQVILA: STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP AND CONTINUING GROWTH

On September 1st, 2025, Aqvila entered a new chapter in its development – one that builds on our founding strengths while preparing us for the opportunities ahead.

Our co-founder, Morten Johansen, has transitioned from CEO to COO, continuing to focus on what has always been at the core of Aqvila’s DNA: project execution and technical excellence. Since founding the company in 2011, Morten has been instrumental in shaping Aqvila’s results-driven culture and high standards of delivery. In his new role, he will concentrate even more closely on our core business – managing projects, supporting our engineering teams, and ensuring that every solution we deliver meets the quality our clients rely on.

At the same time, Sune Birk Kerndrup has been appointed CEO, taking responsibility for administration, finance, people, and sales. With a degree in structural engineering and more than 25 years of experience across turnkey contracting, project management, client advisory, and leadership roles – most recently as a professional client – Sune brings a unique combination of technical insight and strategic vision to Aqvila’s next phase.

“Aqvila will remain an independent and agile engineering company, focused on providing value-for-money solutions for our clients – many of whom are among Denmark’s leading industrial and life science companies,” says Sune and continues: “Working in the cross-field between consultancy and contracting gives us a unique ability to deliver value and execute efficiently. We will continue to strengthen this distinctive DNA and our global project experience to the benefit of our clients. With growing demand for our expertise and project approach, we will also be expanding our team in the near future.”

This transition also reflects the decision of Claus Andresen, Aqvila’s co-founder and former chairman, to retire at the end of October 2025. Claus has been a key figure in establishing Aqvila and guiding its direction since the foundation. We thank him sincerely for his commitment and contribution – and wish him a well-earned retirement.

As Aqvila moves forward, this strengthened management setup ensures that the company remains firmly anchored in its founding principles – technical excellence, integrity, and client value – while continuing to grow and adapt to a dynamic market.

We look forward to this next chapter with confidence – continuing to build trust, deliver results, and stay true to the mindset that has defined Aqvila since day one.
