Description

Asnæsværket, originally built in 1961 and 1981, was a coal-fired power plant, but in 2015, the final decision was made to convert the power plant to a woodchip-fired plant.

The new woodchip-fired block 6 on Asnæsværket shall be ready in July 2019 for test and commissioning, and be ready by the end of 2019 for final taking-over by the client. The new plant will be able to produce approx. 25 MW power and approx. 130 MW district heating and process steam.

The conversion from coal to woodchip on Asnæsværket will result in a yearly CO2 reduction of up to 800,000 tonnes, which is equivalent to a yearly emission from approx. 400,000 passenger cars.

Aqvila agreed to assist Ørsted Bioenergy & Thermal Power A/S with technical client consultancy in relation to various technical and commercial civil works issues related to the construction of ASV6 power plant in Kalundborg, Denmark.

Scope of services

Review of the civil works tender documents and drawings prepared for Asnæsværket block 6, ASV6, as well as review of Ørsted’s internal civil works design procedures to give recommendations for optimization of processes and construction costs for the ASV6 project and future Ørsted projects based on Aqvila’s specialist knowledge in relation to design and construction of power plants.
