Danish engineering company Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) was in December 2016 awarded the contract to build a high-efficient 37 MW extension to an existing power plant in the Faroe Islands. Aqvila, subsequently, won the design and supply sub-contract for the secondary steel structures.
The power plant is located in a quarry north of Tórshavn. The Power House and Stack Area are combined in one building containing all of the equipment including the stack, which penetrates the roof.
Aqvila’s work included detailed design (structural analysis, connection design, 3D modelling and preparation of workshop documents), manufacture and supply of secondary steel structures.
